My Desert

My Desert

A Poem by andrew mitchell

Covered in dust,
My spinifex thoughts
Rolling, rolling
My desert planes.
Looking for growth
Water, life,
Before my thoughts
Are scorched,
Blown, perished;
Devoid of moisture
Robbed of life.
My heat the sun
On my arid earth.
Rolling, rolling
Spinifex thoughts
Searching.....
Dried are my thoughts.

There is so much to be found in the desert and even though it is mostly barren it hold its own beauty. You have done it justice with this lovely piece.

Thank you Dara and nice to meet you
Have to admit I had no idea what spinfex was so had to check it! I thought it was one of those contraptions for drying lettuce! So its an Aussie desert plant. Writers block told in an apt metaphor and flowing verse.

Hi Andrew. How the bush inspires!!! Camping has cleansed the mind, I think. Cleared the sinus of blah and revitalized the energy. I feel it!!! Spinifex!!!! Wow! keep those creative juices flowing, my friend, you have time to make up for, leaving others to slave as you lazed beneath clear skies and waning moons!!!! alf
