SARCASM

SARCASM

A Poem by andrew mitchell
"

Its a form of mental abuse

"
Sarcasm
An invisible force
Portrayed in words.
A powerful abuse: its sword
That leaves no physical marks:
No cuts, no scratches, no bruises.

When wielded this sword:
Cuts, slices, and dices your heart.
Your mind bruised, battered, bashed
Reduced to porridge;
Those words that stir.

Your love squeezed of its very essence
Left to dry: just tears
Without water dies.
Oh yes! the sting of sarcasm
Repetitive blows
That punctures the mind,
Squashes your love,
Pierces the soul.

The scars that remain
Allows no growth
The desert plains:
Your very  thoughts
Just grains of sand.

A little bush,
A sign of hope
Struggles to survive
The wasp of sarcasm
Calmly resides.

Of feelings in tatters:
A love hides
Buried under the
Sand dunes of time.

Well it is called the lowest form of wit but I disagree with that - in the right hands it can be a tremendous form of hilarity - however yes there usually is a fall guy. Its best employed when there are two antagonists that truly know each other and are equals and know where to draw the line.
However when an intellectual superior uses it on someone that maybe isnt as quick witted, or is more sensitive then its not a pretty sight.
This is a topic I havent seen covered before on here Andrew. I applaud you for always having one eye on the inspiration road while driving.

Sarcasm - if done right and done around the right people/person can be hilarious, if done wrong and done around the wrong people/person it can be a disaster.
I am a very sarcastic person by nature, always have been. Most people find it funny when they see this side of me, but I've definitely had my share of encounters with people who took it to heart and got upset.

Anyways very interesting write, this is a topic I've actually never seen anyone write about before.
Awesome poem Andrew. :)

Thank you Micky
Great piece of work, yes words do more damage then they seem capable
sometimes:) I do have to admit this though, I have met a few people who
use sarcasm almost as a gift, I know it's not right to encourage bad behavior
but I would be lying if I said I have never laughed my butt off when sarcasm
is used comically, anyways great write and thx for sharing, b-blessed!

Hi Andrew. This is sadly, so very true. We can all hide behind the irony and wit of the words but the damage is catastrophic. Self-worth takes years to regenerate after the slicing and dicing is done. I so love that you have veiled this in comedic phrases, but still allow the truth to prevail. An extraordinary piece of musing!! alf
