MAIL FROM EMILYA Poem by andrew mitchellthanks emily
I've entered a contest
Like a lottery ; my poem Chances are slim. I know! Depends on the judges Their mood as well The imagery, the flow, and the grammar foretells How the judges select....... I don't know! Suddenly a message from Emily I'm thinking all excited I've won! I've won! I did It! Speech ready; I like to thank all my friends. Much appreciated. I really do! I'm so excited. Can I say something absurd? Golly gosh batman! Holy Toledo too! Well I'll be stuffed! I don't believe this. Must have been my imagery that just got me through. I'm clicking on the mailbox What will it say! First prize AM I can't believe I've actually won! I open up the message all excited I am To find.... VOTING IS NOW OPEN! I'm crushed, squashed, split in two, a poet no more...... my mind shrinks shrivelled in a dark corner
