Can burn so bright

With periods of dormancy

Prolonging its life.

Later extinguished

Snuffed out in the night

The wick of a candle

Fragile in its fight.

Underneath the words is the allusion to life, love, and so many other emotions, another wonderfully layered piece. This is what I look for in short poems. Brevity of word, fabulous cadence and an ocean of emotional content. This is it! the epitome of poetry!! alf
