WHY ISN'T THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE?

WHY ISN'T THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE?

A Poem by andrew mitchell

When one considers the family tree,
All that knowledge handed down to thee
From generations of children passed.
One could ask, "Why isn't the world a better place?
To pass on advice of past mistakes,
For the benefit of society in such a state
With crime and violence all too high:
What happened to advice money can't buy?
For when one considers the age of our race,
Ideally, the world should be----- a better place!

You would think by now in this day and age, it would be. I believe it must be better now than when my grand-parents were alive, but people struggle now with putting food on the table, just like they did back then.

Take care, Andrew!

All one has to look at in this country is the break down of the family. How many marriages last? How many kids are raised with just one parent? Why are so many children being raised in foster homes or foster families? My niece has 7 children she is raising for delinquent parents. Down the street a couple are on their 4th set of foster kids. With a shortage of black foster homes children are placed in white environments. Others just abort them and walk on. Does this help answer a few of your questions? Valentine

Hi Andrew. Sadly, I have to agree with this sentiment. What have we failed to do if not make this world a better place. Again, you have taken my mind in a new direction with this poem, possibly more reflected. I have decided I must buy a table, add a balcony (or patio) to my house, and sit beneath the moon every night!!! Loved this, as much for the truism as for the writing, alf
