ON THE BEACH

ON THE BEACH

A Poem by andrew mitchell

At the horizon
The sea meets the sun
While the seashore waves
Roll out their song
And seagulls chatter
As the sea wind is felt
Heavy is the air
With the smell of salt
But then the sun
Dives from view
Now sea and sky
Become one not two
As autumn colours
Of a sunset decline
Sea and sky become
The back of my mind.

Hi Andrew. Well! Even your free verse is gaining impetus. You are telling a full story without reverting to superfluous verbiage!! I love this, and wouldn't change anything, alf

My favorite kind of poetry. Thoughts and the sea. I spend six years near the sea. I would roam Winter or Summer on her shore. On the beach. A place to make us know peace and clam. I liked the closing lines.
"Of a sunset decline
Sea and sky become
The back of my mind."
Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.
