A NIGHT GLIMPSEA Poem by andrew mitchell
Outside the window, a clear dark night,
I see little jewels shining bright. Small whitish dots against blackened sky, Motionless, poised while time slips by. But where's the cow jumping over the moon Or the cat with fiddle playing tunes? And while these thoughts plague my conscience; Cats, fiddles, cows --- just all nonsense! Who paints this night black and white? As now my thoughts are taking flight. For how they seem to watch over me All these sparkling eyes that I see, And as I drift.....drift back to sleep, They will paint my dreams---- all mine to keep.
