DEALINGS WITH DESTINY.

DEALINGS WITH DESTINY.

A Poem by andrew mitchell

From a pack of cards
You're told to select
Any card from the deck
And make or break
Your path will be set.
Choose a heart
You'll love in time.
Choose a club
You'll do the crime.
Choose a spade
You'll dig your grave.
Choose a diamond
Your fortune's made.
A simple choice, make or break,
Just select then live your fate.

Nice take on the cards! Did you know the king of hearts is the only card with four arms? And he's the only king without a mustache? people think someone is stabbing in the head... Idk. I wonder what his fate was.... Nice poem :P
Thanks for entering my contest

Thank you for the opportunity to post my works.😀
andrew mitchell,
"Dealings with destiny" was refreshing in it's forthright message. We make life choices and then they are ours to "deal" with; Good bad and everywhere in between. Life is actually a continuous stream of choices. It's amazing that any of us get by at all when you think about it! Bless you. This poem was a real easy to read and fun poem with a whole lot of meaning! Kathy

Wow, when i read something like this i say to myself, "Life can be seen in such simple terms as well. Damn should have thought about it earlier". It's a lovely read, and the metaphors shine through. ^^

Late thank you E So Sorry!
Ok...as a reader of a deck of cards as well as tarot, this is really cool. It reminds me of the gypsy readers who tell you your fate and you are doomed to repeat whatever they say. As a modern tarot reader, I like to think free will enters the equation, so the cards are meant to be a guide post to prevent you from living a certain fate...or help you to manifest a certain fate. Sometimes though Andrew...you get people who believe in the cards so much it is EXACTLY as you say...they almost create the fate the cards lays out for them because they believe in the magic of the read so much. You did really well with the meanings too...spades often mean death of things...hearts love. Well done...love this poem.

Thank you so much my friend. So sorry its late!:)
Bravo! Prognostication via a playing deck was always beyond me as I alway got confused with the suit crossover between decks via pentacles, staves, goblets and swords versus diamonds, clubs, spades and hearts.
I started with a tarot deck I inherited from an Aunt (on my father's side) who are German gypsy but I prefer palmistry, it is a great excuse to ask a pretty lady to hold her hand :~)
