Where is my great world war, With its soldiers together? Its nations all bound as brothers Unity, humanity rising? Where is my foreign world, With its strange treasures hidden? Its glories free for the taking Curiosity, Knowledge rising? I see now they’re nowhere, Run out by history’s course. Nothing inspires nations now, But people’s brittle narcissism. © 2014 Lucy
