Where?

Where?

A Poem by Lucy
"

No more Innovation

"

Where is my renaissance,

With its arts clothing nations?

Its scholars breathing poetry

Innovation, invention rising?

Where is my great world war,

With its soldiers together?

Its nations all bound as brothers

Unity, humanity rising?

Where is my foreign world,

With its strange treasures hidden?

Its glories free for the taking

Curiosity, Knowledge rising?

I see now they’re nowhere,

Run out by history’s course.

Nothing inspires nations now,

But people’s brittle narcissism.

Author's Note

Lucy
I wasn't sure whether or not to put this into the "psychology" or the "History" genre, but the final term "brittle narcissism" is not a widely known phenomena so I figure that I might as well characterized it as I did.

Feel free to give feedback - written for thoughts although I might use these ideas again in a cleaner format.
