A Poem by Lucy
"

Broken families and childhoods.

"

Eleven and Ten O’clock

She awoke with a mighty shock

But she was just a wee lass

The minute would go so fast

To Eleven Eleven O’clock

Eleven Eleven O’clock

She awoke with a mighty shock

Her frizzy bed head had curled

And the stars! Her shiny pearls

To Eleven Eleven O’clock

Eleven Eleven O’clock

She awoke with a mighty shock

She ran from the creaky house

Still wearing her black-lace blouse

To Eleven Eleven O’clock

Eleven Eleven O’clock

She awoke with a mighty shock

Chills danced up her tiny spine

And the stars told her, “It’s time!”

For Eleven Eleven O’clock

Eleven Eleven O’clock

She awoke with a mighty shock

A child’s prayer was made that night

“Let daddy come home alright.”

At Eleven Eleven O’clock

Eleven Eleven O’clock

She awoke with a mighty shock

Mommy echoes down the hall

Silent sobs. Holding his coat.

Past Eleven Eleven O’clock

Eleven Eleven O’clock

I awoke with a mighty shock

I’m swept up into the past

Watching a girl run so fast

For Eleven Eleven O’clock

Eleven Eleven O’clock

I awoke with a mighty shock

“Prayers won’t do anything girl.”

But the cold… Her frozen curls

At Eleven Eleven O’clock

Eleven Eleven O’clock

I awoke with a mighty shock

The bleary stars now stagnant

Not the least bit celebrant

Like that Eleven Eleven O’clock

Eleven Eleven O’clock

I awoke with a mighty shock

He was never home before dark

On the drink he sailed his fine barque

Past Eleven Eleven O’clock

Eleven Eleven O’clock

I awoke with a mighty shock

Those waters soon claimed his life

And then they claimed his good wife

That Eleven Eleven O’clock

Eleven Eleven O’clock

I awoke with a mighty shock

I then put myself to bed

The lifeless child of the dead

Eleven Eleven O’clock

Eleven Eleven O’clock

I desperately turned off the clock

To hide away from the shock

No room for mem’ries to knock

Eleven Eleven O’clock

Oh lord I got transported to that time when my first son was born and I found out to my suprise that not all babies come from factory with the sleep chip on their motherboards. So for the next 22 months I resorted to read and read and read some more so that would would fall a sleep. And this right here Lucy has the capability to appeal to many and all it all depends on he reader and that in itself is great! The next is the issue of time which we invent as it doesn't really exsist and it touches on it albeit I assume unintentionally. Then is the rhyme which is a cross in bewtten hypnotic and sequential. But ultimately and seeing I am a sucker for everything internal really it touches upon an issue which is of most pecularity. As soon as you focus on anything you can't continue to focus on the object and at the same time be aware of the subject and that drives the brain into a state of continual desire to trap similar to the madness of time.

Thankyou I found it clever

This one struck a chord, ever since my sister passed, I notice each time the clock strikes 11:11 AM & PM, it's so eerie....could be a song, your rhyme scheme is hypnotic. Well done!
