Circus ActA Poem by alyssakaye
Ladies and gentleman,
feast your eyes upon tonight's opening act. Step right up, my dear. The crowd is watching, waiting. Tame a wild beast. Swing the trapeze without as much as a blink of fear. Show us a trick. After all, deception is our greatest weakness. What's so different about you, so special? Why you? What makes your act any better than the next? Speak up, my dear, your voice is shaking. Why should I believe you're any different than the piece of s**t who wrecked me? Even the evilest of villains can pass as martyrs in the eyes of the broken. I've shattered and rebuilt from the ground up, and this time I won't break so easy. I can't. I won't. My fragile heart couldn't possibly take another beating. So sell me your lines and sleep soundly as I take it all to heart and try and catch my breath. And hold me a little closer, my dear, so that the other villains that lurk in the shadows know that I am your prize to be won, your shiny trophy to set on the shelf in the darkest hallways of your clouded soul. So let's see it. Your big finale. A disappearing act, maybe? And tell me; whisper a little louder, my darling, why you? © 2013 alyssakaye |
