Moment Of SilenceA Poem by Aziz LutherLove you PAPA
We take a moment to remember the days of the youth
The days were freedom was brought forth by truth The days the burden didn't make us mules The days tears were only a symbol of youth At the table while meals were handed no sounds just the news On the radio, before TVs and dad held a newspaper too Couldn't say a word, couldn't air out my views It was a simple rule, talk and from the table you be excused Master and Commander, My father and my mother The silence that I can't speak off Though my insides shout it louder I hear sounds saying I'm a coward Some simply say I'm over powered This is a fight I can never win I go in I'll get devoured Silently at the table, head lowered feeling defeated Feeling empty and mistreated, A figure ready to be deleted The crashing changing the silence into violence Unexpected, impossible, like mount Rushmore erupted The death brings forth destruction I've been dead and feelings iced then Work up from the worst nightmare Still having the troubled moment of silence © 2013 Aziz Luther |
