Pit Stop like Heaven

Pit Stop like Heaven

A Poem by Aziz Luther
"

One of those stops you forget to move on

"
A rush, a crush, holding cards ready for a royal flash
Asleep, awake looking for more ways to make that cash
High risks, no sleep chased all day,
All night running I don't trust where I lay

I pray with one eye closed one open
Just in case he comes for me, the headless horseman
I sleep less, I'm mostly sleepless
Nightmares place me in torture endless

Hustling all day, with a kill or be killed attitude
With a postcard of California hoping to be Hollywood
Hoping to make it, never stopping to appreciate the making
So I'm pumped up with adrenaline pushing for a fairytale ending
Panic attack from all the chases
Holding my smoking pair of aces
Ready to gamble my life
Just to end with a bitter cry

Then why, I stop to smell the roses
And the scent was like a little piece of heaven
Forgot about the problems forgot how to solve em
Forgot that the journey I was on
Forgot it was only the beginning
Morning bells are ringing
Not so I wake but to tell me who stole the dream
The dream I once had, lost because I wanted to smell roses

So I hope for a second chance to chase
Erase my previous mistakes
I Tell God the roses were nice but keep me on my toes
But keep the devil off my heels,
Always remind me where I'm from
So I can focus on where I go
No more smiles when I'm on shows
That's until I end it and hear the applause
