Fighting The Inevitable SlumberA Poem by A.M. EverlastingWe've all been there. Dozing off, late at night, but you're just not ready to sleep. Or, at least, that's what you're mind is telling you. But, in the end, sleep always prevails. My eyelids droop, heavier they seem. I stifle a yawn, not quite ready to dream, And for a reason I have yet to understand, I strive to remain wakeful as long as I can, But weariness prevails and I prepare for sleep, Then quickly fall into tranquil slumber deep. © 2009 A.M.
