I wish it was this easy. To wave a white flag and have peace. I like this poem. I could feel the emotion of sadness and need for war to end. I like the story and the ending. Maybe a white flag is a needed symbol to show the desire of the people who are tire of war and violence. A outstanding poem. You made your point.

Sometimes I feel I need a white flag just so she will just stop before worse becomes disasterous. It's all apart of life, it's all apart of the real world, and I was pulled into this. Great write.
The best aspect of this poem for me, dealing as it does w/that perennial bugbear of intimate relational continuities, is the tone. It wins by surrendering -- since the battleground is one of two losers, as nobody actually wins arguments. Love is the only winner. Sometimes it walks away, sometimes it stays, but it never suffers the delusion that emotive intimate arguments are intrinsically winnable.
Also, speaking from experience, that appalled feeling one gets falling into this kind of discord, when one thinks one is past all that, all too frequently said strife doesn't seem to be ABOUT anything, save the peculiar chemical catalysts of the moment. There is no way out but changing the channel, surrendering the peculiar battlefield.
A man worth his salt in this situation, reading this addressed to him, would surrender in kind, realizing the only win is joining the white flag brigade.
Good, important writing about a universal situation.
Life is too short to spend it arguing, when we love someone then there is always room to compromise... thats when you stick to subjects that bond you. I thought of that great song by Dido as I read this... beautiful work.
I enjoy writing poetry, usually just what comes to me. I write for me, it's like just something that I need to get out. Whatever hits me at the moment I start jotting down, on sticky notes, napkins.... more..
