Lost

Lost

A Poem by Lauren Beth

Who am I? Where have I gone?
I have lost myself as the years passed
I need to find myself again, know myself,
Embrace myself, love myself

Never let me flee again!

What makes me happy?

Need to find purpose,

Need to find me….

Who am I without you?

I have lost myself!

Where can I find me?

On you I have relied,

And so lost my pride.

Lost my inner self,

Where can this I find?

I’m lost, searching…

Deep inside, so bleak

And lonely here.

I must face this deepest,

Darkest fear…..

Each verse is longer than the one which goes before, thus adding to the emotional strength of this poem. But, was that intented by the writer? Either way, I like the subject matter. Loneliness, pride, recognising your true self and the ulitimate nightmare of being alone, are all worthy themes.

I wondered if this write is based on a specific experience by the writer, or simply a number of events in her life? Either way, the trauma tends to intensify when negative emotions are repeated over time.

An interesting poem, Lauren! I look forward to reading more of your writing!

After my divorce I felt much like this... I realized how much of myself I sacrificed, not that love is bad but you must keep a balance... the poem speaks volumes of how we can give to much and lose the core of our soul in the process.

About
I enjoy writing poetry, usually just what comes to me. I write for me, it's like just something that I need to get out. Whatever hits me at the moment I start jotting down, on sticky notes, napkins.... more..
