Farewell Simon

Farewell Simon

A Poem by alternative_be
"

Dutch poet Simon Vinkenoog died July 12th... He is the "Old Poet" in my poem with the same name.

"

Eyes and ears of the nation
With never ending imagination

Pathos was your cheek
Your joy every picture’s compliment

Infecting your readers
Letting us long in awe

Nearly every day
Leading us astray

Wandering through
Your never ending stories

Words promoted to gems
Gave you everything to express yourself

Your discoveries, instantly shared
A media figure? No, more credit! Pretty please!

Master of eclectics
Reformer of heuristics

No stuffy library for you
Online media suited you fine

Driven by Sturm und Drang
Driven, driven and suddenly: ‘Bang’

We wished for you to live towards eternity
Only alchemists knew how …

Sadly but alas, their tireless efforts in vain
Remained to no avail

They refused to break ancient codes
Denying your raving poetic quests

No ‘herb’ was able to help you now
For you have left us

I am writing, hoping, maybe
You will remembered in our thoughts.

This is a fond dedication and farewell... full of grace and charm... I don't know the poet it is dedicated too but I always respect when on artist gives respect to another.
