Dark Days of December

Dark Days of December

Gloomy mornings battling sunrise
Ayurvedic* snails enjoy
Prolonged seasonal nights
Before being washed away
I thank thee my ritual shower
For only thou hast the power
To cleanse my sorrows away

No more bed bugs bugging me
At last …
In the end …
I will be free

* Ayurveda: ancient way of life and system of medicine, described in the Veda (Old Sanskrit scriptures). The snails are a metaphor for all the dirt that gets into your system during the dark of night. Therefore ayurvedic teachings suggest to take a shower in the early morning to cleanse your body in order to enhance your mental and physical capacities.

Sounds like the sort of shower we all need to take from time to time as cleansing away the griness seems tlike the first step towards renewal.
