The one cent poem

The one cent poem

A Poem by alternative_be

The one cent poem
(bare)

The worth of your
Writing describing
The deepest sentiments
Of your inner soul

Coal black sentiments
Out of my twisted mind
While I was out
For the sun to find

A creation, new and
Shiny as my black
Dancing shoes
As I read the message

‘Money into your account’
Jumping up, just checking
To find …
One cent for my poem

Written with love and care
Leaving me
Bereaved of my creation
And a little bare

Words are words but actions speak louder and if you tell someone you love them but don't show it the words are not worth a penny... awesome write.

Between stanza one and two you change person.

My feeling is that the last stanza is redundant. You've explained how you've bared your soul to make this piece of literary greatness. Leaving it at one cent really puts the capstone on the poem. Just my TWO cents!

The perfect description of something that every writer goes through. (Though I'm still waiting on the first penny!) It's not about the money, but, yet, you've given a little piece of yourself to everything to write and to see that piece of yourself totalled up and a price-tag placed on it (I can imagine) is a little painful. Keep writing, be secure in the knowledge that your penny poem is priceless.

Ah, just why do we write? Hell, I don't know but a penny might be a King's ransom or an insult - it all depends on how we see it.

Very good balance and flow. I really like it.
