The greatness of books goes far beyond the words contained within. The very smell of a book can brighten my day. A trip to the library, for me, is still an imaginitive vacation. The excitement I get from a book I have been wanting to read and wondering what sort of journey and twists will come my way.
The books are hooks metaphore was awesome. This whole piece was an ingenious motivational speech, wonderful, wonderful job!
I really like this it is short and it talkes about the one thing that never changes. Books... The flow of this poem was very nice I had no problem reading. Very Wounderfull job my friend...very good indeed.

Ah... the arrogance of people to think they know best. Truth is they know fear, for it is fear that makes such things possible. I was just reading a story the other morning about book burning in Europe and how horrible it was, only to then realize the same people that complained about it here burned books they did not think were moral. Funny how people can hate a think but embrace it at the same time.
"the jar of my brain"
this made me smile~ I love them too, and agree with you...so much information is lost in old books, you have to wonder, what knowledge is slipping away even now? How much is getting lost in the virtual shuffle?

The saddest point once brought up was that there are now more writers than readers. The world is full of preachers than listeners...
Reading makes us evolve through the experience of others, better still are novels written by great authors, whose lives leave us with great examples to follow.
As all your fundamentals are excellent, I will conclude by saying I enjoy your piece :)
Sad that we live in a world where people feel such a desire to dictate what others may and may not enjoy. Sadder still that this kind of dictatorship will eventually lead to the abandonment of education, logic and free thought.
Great poem. It needs to be submitted for publishing, with no changes whatsoever.
... Then again, those who really need to read it will probably burn it.
This is so beautiful! I love it. And just like Todd, I don't think anyone can ever have enough books. I'm about to move, and the thought of getting rid of any books is out of the question. :) I'll throw out my back, first.
The first stanza is masterful, with the first line internal rhyme. The last left me wondering, like there was something I missed, but I still like the flow and presence of the entire piece. Bravo. 100% and going in my favorites.
Perfectly perfect. Terrific and insightful. How much you have stated in so few words. Can one ever have enough books? I should say not!
Nicely done,
Todd
