Ch. 13A Chapter by Ashley
“I guess I have to tell you what is going on now,” the father replied to Elise. “You’re going to have the same fate as your mother. You’ll die like she did. You’ll hurt like she did. Why? It’s really quite simple. I hated you. I hated your mother. When you were little, she would act as if I didn’t exist anymore. It was always you. Then, I started doing things that she didn’t like. From there, well it all went down hill.
“You remember that beach house we use to go to, Elise? Do you even remember me? Of course, she probably never told you about me.” Elise kept listening as he was moving closer to her. He scared her. And worst of all, she had no idea what he was talking about. She knew he looked familiar. She kept staring at him, and then it clicked. Kaedon was watching him carefully. He hated whoever this guy was, and the fact Renz was involved made this so much weirder. Hate covered Kaedon’s face as he was trying to figure out everything that was going on.
The mysterious man continued talking. “All those summers together, when you were little. All the fun times we had…” he started stroking Elise’s face. “I’ve missed your entire life because of your mother. I hated her for that. But, I only hated her mostly because she left me. Elise…I am your father….
“She left me because I was sleeping with another woman. Did you also know, you have a half brother?” Elise’s father laughed maniacally. “Renz?”
Renz walked up to Elise and stood there in front of her face. “I am your half brother Elise. Today, you’re going to die, just like your mother did, for making Father miserable his entire life.
“Father,” Renz continued now turning to his father. “I need to talk to Carlos quick. Have you told him about this yet?”
The father just sat there and laughed.
“What’s so funny, yo? I am being serious!”
“Renz, you amateur. Do you think I would honestly let him, or possibly even you live after this? He never knew anything. I killed him, Renz. He’s gone. Dead.”
“Live? You…killed…him?” Anger was building up in Renz. Carlos and him had been life long friends, and even partners in the underground world. “You killed Carlos man?” Renz pulled a knife out of his back pocket. “That’s not cool. You’re going to pay!” Renz charged after him like a bull running after a red target.
The father pulled out a hand gun from the inside of his jacket and shot Renz directly in the forehead. Renz fell to the ground as his blood started to spill around his corpse. The father through the gun away to the side of himself and picked up the knife from Renz’s clenched hand. He walked up to Elise and wiped away the tears that had fallen on her cheeks. “I’m sorry you had to see that, Elise. But, if it makes up for it, you won’t have to see Kaedon die. He’ll just have to die knowing he couldn’t ever save you.”
The father walked up to Elise and slid the knife across her neck like a rose’s petals being wiped across the skin. He didn’t want to cut her just yet. He wanted to make her pulse quicken to the point of breakdown. Elise was forming sweat beads on her forehead, and her eyes were starting to tear. Anger was building up in Kaedon and he blinked away tears. He hated watching all of this torture. There had to be some way. If only…
The father now took the knife and slashed it through Elise’s right arm leaving a big bloody gash. Elise cried out in pain as blood ran down her arm.
“Kaedon! Make it Stop!” She cried out.
Kaedon took his chance and flung the lighter he had in his hand lit, and lit the rope holding his hands. He ran up to the father and punched him in this face. He hurried to get Elise down.
“Oh my God!” She screamed. “Thank you!” She said pulling him. “We need to get out of here!”
By now, the father was getting back up rubbing the side of his face. In the corner, the rope that was lit on fire was slowly torching down the place, setting everything ablaze.
Kaedon pushed Elise out towards the door. “Run! I’ll take care of. I promise!” He kissed her on her lips quickly. “I love you! Get out!”
The father had come up to Kaedon and sliced open his back. Kaedon cried out in pain. “Run Elise! Run!” Elise had no choice but to run, but tears ran down her face as she had to turn her back on the person she loved and would never get to see again. She prayed in her head over and over. Please let him be ok…please.
When Elise got outside, she ran for as much as she could. She was so happy to be outside again, but she was in a state of mental breakdown. The outside world looked so unfamiliar to her, and she had come so close to dying. Now, she thought, Kaedon is going to die because of me…
When Elise could no longer run, she felt worn out, and looked around as she started getting dizzy again. She was hearing voices in her head over and over, just reminding her of how she left Kaedon, and of her mom. Everything was spinning, and the night sky looked like it was closing in on her.
Elise’s face had dried blood all over it, and her body was dehydrated, and hungry. Elise’s dress was in such torn you couldn’t even tell it was a dress. Elise felt like she was spinning around in circles and circles, until she finally passed out.
