Ch. 12

A Chapter by Ashley

When Elise came too, she was hung on a wall by ropes tied on her arms and feet. When she looked to her side, she saw Kaedon in the worst ever. There were gashes along the left side of his jaw, and blood ran down on his arms soaking his shirt. When Elise looked down at herself, she noticed that there were bigger gashes in her legs than there were before.

All hope was lost now. There was no way in hell they would ever make it out of this alive. Kaedon looked over at her.

“I’m so sorry….” He whispered.

Tears welled up in Elise’s eyes. At least, she thought, let this be a quick death. The mysterious man walked in.

“Ahh.” He greeted them both with a smile. “I see you’re up now, Elise.” The way he said her name made Elise want to puke. It was like, she knew him from somewhere, but she couldn’t remember. “I suppose you want to know what’s going on? Well, I guess I can tell you. It wouldn’t matter anyways, considering you’ll be with your mother soon enough.”

Anger flashed through Elise’s eyes. “What did you say?”

The man smiled. “Finally, I am getting some response from you. You’ll find out soon enough. We just have to wait for the final part to be complete.”

Elise looked at Kaedon. So many things were running through her mind. At least I just wish I could save him…

Stacie didn’t know where she was supposed to be running too. She just wanted to get away. It was getting dark, and if he shot her, no one would know.

“Where to go…where to go…” She talked to herself. Her legs were started to pain more than ever as blood ran down them with every step she took. I have to take a break…I am losing too much blood.

“No. I can’t. What if he finds me?” She continued talking to herself. While she was running, she was so caught up in her own thoughts, that she hit a rock bare footed and tripped over it. Stacie screamed out in pain, and fell right onto the concrete of the sidewalk she was running on. Her legs now felt like dead weight, and she couldn’t move very much. Tears escaped in a rush of anger and pain.

“I have to move…C’mon. I can do it.” Using her arms, she hoisted herself up, and was able to be standing on her own feet again. As she looked back, she saw a man looking around from bush to bush. Crap, she thought.

Stacie looked around, and wondered where she could go. He was looking in all of the bushes, so she couldn’t hide in one. When she looked down to her left, she saw a down hill, and then a little cove in the mountain you couldn’t see unless you were down there. The only bad part was, it was right next to the sea, and she was afraid of water.

She looked back. “I really don’t have a choice, now do I?” Stacie hopped down, trying to move as fast as she could without hurting herself. When she got inside the cove, she sat down on the cold mud that felt soothing against her scabbing legs. All she could taste in her mouth was Jamie’s blood. Stacie sighed as her stomach growled. She had just realized that she never did finish breakfast/lunch, and she couldn’t run forever on empty.

Maybe, she thought, after he leaves I’ll try and get something from the water…Stacie had heard a quick rustling noise. She could hear her heart beat in her ears. It was weird being able to pick out every noise, being scared of every noise. Stacie looked out onto the water, and al; she could see now was the moonlight glistening across the water.

Stacie started hearing whispering.

“I found you….”

Stacie’s heart was pounding in her ears again. Sweat was trickling down the back of her neck onto her muddy dress. Oh dear God…please no…When Stacie looked up, Renz’s face was right there. He was about to lift the gun up when she ran and hit in the face, as she ran out of the cove.

“Stay away!” Stacie ran for the water. What am I doing?!?! Oh well, she thought, there is no where else to go…

“Come here!! You’re not going to live fool!” Renz was shouting behind her trying to catch up. He positioned the gun towards her chest, and because of the distance, when he shot the gun, the bullet flashed past her right arm leaving little trickles of blood. Stacie screamed inside of her head.

“C’mon…can’t my legs move any faster?”

Renz shot another bullet and it hit her right arm this time. Stacie cried out in pain. Renz was cursing under his breathe. Why can’t I aim? When he went to go reload his gun and shoot, the bullet got caught and was lodged.

“Damn it!” He yelled. Renz threw the gun off to the side and began running faster after Stacie. He was trying to conjure up ideas in his head for killing her. Stacie got up to the bank of the water and started freaking out.

“I don’t know what to do….damn it…damn it….” She didn’t want to have to swim, but she didn’t have a choice. Her arm was bleeding, her legs ached. Oh please don’t let me drown.

Stacie counted in her head. On the count of three she jumped in and started swimming as fast as she could. She was having trouble trying to stay above water, because a storm was starting to brew.

When Renz caught up, he didn’t feel like jumping in after her. He looked up at the clouds and saw the storm that was headed there way. “There is no way she’ll live through that, yo.” He spit. “She’s as good as dead.” With that, Renz walked away.

The mysterious man just walked around. He looked like he was waiting, but Elise wasn’t sure for what. She had to admit, she got tired anticipating her own death. She was so scared now, and she didn’t want to hurt any worse than the pain her body was already in.

Finally, the door creaked open, and through it came walking Renz. Elise’s mouth dropped as she looked over at Kaedon. Even his eyes were wide in disbelief. What the…

Renz walked in and greeted the mysterious man with a handshake. “Hello, Father.” This just made Elise and Kaedon gasp even more. Father?? “I’ve finished all three jobs. The agent is dead. You were right. He rebelled against us. So, he is now gone.”

“And the other two girls??” The word girls caught Elise’s attention. Her mind went straight to Jamie and Stacie. Oh my…

“They are too gone.” Elise couldn’t help but start crying. He had killed her best friends. Why??
