Ch. 7

 

At first, his neon blue eclipse wouldn't start. "Damn it!" Kaedon yelled.

 

The car stalled, then once more he tried, and the engine roared to life. He drove down the road in search of the black and red firebird.

 

Kaedon didn't know his hand was bleeding until the sharp pain started to set in.

 

"Damn it to hell!" Kaedon's anger wasn't wearing off one bit, but who could blame him. Everything in his head revolved around Elise. I hope she's okay, he thought.

 

As he kept driving down the road, he spotted the firebird. He stayed behind so he could follow it without suspicion.

 

Five minutes later, he found himself driving alone down a narrow road. Strange thing was he didn’t even notice the change.

 

"What the..." Kaedon stopped and pulled over. He scratched his head as he was getting out of the car. Laying on the ground was a dead deer.

 

"What the hell? Where did that come from?"

 

Kaedon just sat there a few minutes staring at the dead deer. Sometimes he would look, and the deer would no longer be there, and othertimes he would. Kaedon feared he was starting to get delusional. I need some rest, he thought.

 

All of a sudden, he felt a cold steel barrel through his shirt against his back. Kaedon's heart was racing, pounding in his throat. Cool breath on his neck was like steaming liquid running down his spine.

 

"Don't move, or I'll blow your back out," a mysterious voice whispered in his ear. Kaedon could feel icy hands grab his wrists, leading him to a car with no windows in the back seat.

 

Kaedon’s heart was still poundin in his throat. He had no idea what to do, and so many thoughts were running through his head. Elise, he thought.

 

The mysterious man shoved Kaedon into the open door, shutting it. Though Kaedon never got a glimpse of the man, as he looked past the closing door, he swore he saw the 'dead deer' disappear.

 

Kaedon, still in fear, just sat there shaking. His head was spinning as he suddenly felt nauseous. Then, he blacked out.
