Ch. 6

Elise woke up and looked around. She tasted bitter saltiness in her mouth, and spit up blood. She was sitting on the ground, but she felt drugged. She flung her head over to the side and puked up stomach acid and blood. She went to wipe her mouth off, but when she went to lift her hand, the rattling of chains awakened her to her reality.

 

Her back was up against a wall, her legs in front of her. Her hands were chained to the wall, and she had blood running down the side of her face, and her arms and legs. She was in a black room, and there was nothing in there except for a mirror directly across from Elise.

 

She looked at herself in the mirror, and her eyes welled up with tears. She looked at herself and she saw her mother. Her matted hair was covered in dirt, and a mix of blood and sand over her skin and dress.

 

When her mom died, it was one of the most tragic things that Elise had ever witnessed. She hadn't even told Kaedon what had happened. She tried to push it out of her mind. Two and a half months into dating Kaedon, Elise recieved a message from her mom asking her to come over so they could hang out.

Elise dressed up nice, and knocked on her mom's apartment door. After a few minutes, she let herself in. The living room was upturned, and the blood on the ground made Elise gasp. She heard talking from an unfamilar voice, and her mom crying.

 

Hiding in the bathroom, she heard a man yell something unintelligible and then a loud bang. Her mom's crying stopped and a mysterious man ran out of the apartment. Elise stayed there for a few minutes, scared that the man would come back. After she was sure he was gone, she went searching for her mom.

 

When she found her mom, she just lay there beaten, bloody and bruised. Most of all....she was gone.

 

Now, here I am, Elise thought. Her tears left streaks on her bloody face, draining her beauty. When she looked aroud the room was much smaller than she previously though. She looked up and the ceiling was maybe a foot away from her head.

 

Elise had always hated small spaces, and she started screaming uncontrolably. She heard the door slam, and the room was normal size again. Panic in breathe, she saw a msyterious man come up to her. This wasn’t the man from the car. It was someone else. The mysterious man back handedher in the mouth. Her lip started bleeding and she cried out in pain.

"Shut up." His hard eyes stared Elise up and down, threatening her without touching her. With that, he walked out of the room, leaving her to weep.
