Ch. 1 Reassurance

Ch. 1 Reassurance

A Chapter by Ashley

She tried breathing, but to all avail, hope was lost. I can’t believe…. She did not want to open her eyes, but yet, she couldn’t let go either. Her heart was beating ninety miles inside of her chest and she couldn’t help but smile, even knowing what she was doing was wrong.

Tears streamed down her sweaty streaked face and Kristin threw the covers off of her. She sat up in bed and cried. I hope no one can here how pathetic I am right now…she thought. Thinking of him just made her heart flutter. God, this is so wrong….I am with him…I can’t be thinking of…

All of a sudden, there was a knock on the window. Kristin got up out of bed, and looked in the mirror. Dominick waved. Oh geez…Kristin looked in the mirror quickly, and wiped off her teary faced. When she did a double take, she realized she was wearing a tank top, and she was in her underwear. She hurried and put on a pair of shorts she could find.

“Kristin!!! Open the window!!” Dominick whispered. Kristin now in half-decent clothes opened up the window.

“What are you doing here?” Kristin giggled, acting surprised even though this hadn’t been the first time he had snuck to her house in the middle of the night. “Louis will get mad at you if he keeps finding out you’re coming to my house in the middle of the night you know!!” She giggled because honestly she didn’t really care.

They closed the window up, and Kristin, now feeling the room a little cooler huddled under the covers and Dominick crawled in bed with her. Kristin pulled herself up against Dominick’s side, and he wrapped his arms around her. She just laid there memorizing his scent. How wrong is this….she thought again to herself.

She just laid there with her head on his shoulder thinking again back to her dream, and she couldn’t help but be attracted. Even to her best friend. Maybe best friends from the start, but this attraction had only grown since the end of eighth grade. What a fool I was…..she kept thinking about the past.

“What are you thinking about?” Dominick asked with piqued curiosity. He was watching her, and he knew everything just by studying her face. Her eyes were focused, staring off into the distance, and he knew she was thinking about them. He brought the question up about a week ago, ever since him and Victoria broke up, it’s been all about her, and well. It was going to take some getting used to.

“Nothing,” she managed to spill out after she realized he was talking to her. Dominick could feel the tension and worry coming from her, so he just held her and didn’t press on. Shortly after, Kristin fell asleep.

In the morning she awoke to someone’s lips on her own. She unconsciously kissed back, and then woke up. What the-

“Good morning sweetheart,” Louis said after he finished kissing Kristin. For a moment, Kristin had to remember who he was.

        “Oh….hey..”

“Are you ok? You seem out of it. You know?” Louis looked halfway interested.

“Yeah, I’m fine. Why are you here?” Kristin seemed more annoyed. Everything was happening to fast. Was last night a dream? No, she told herself, she could still picture him and smell him.

Louis started going through her phone, through all the contacts, and pictures.

        “Put it down will you!”

“Why? I am just double checking everything.”

        “You don’t need to!!”

Kristin and Louis started getting into a fight when Kristin’s mom stepped into the room.

“I think it’s time for you to leave. Let Kristin get finished, and come back later.”

“Actually mom,” Kristin spoke up, “I am going over Dominick’s house this afternoon.”

Louis shot her a really dirty look. They had been going out for a year and a half now, and he hated the fact that she would still hang out with him, despite their past together. Eventually, and reluctantly, Louis got up and left. Kristin started getting ready.

On her walk over to Dominick’s house, Kristin was contemplating everything in her head she was going to say to Dominick. I need to get this out, she thought. She was still thinking about words and sentences when Dominick opened his door and practically jumped on top of Kristin to give her a hug. Of course it wasn’t a big let me kill you hug; it was a friendly hug, that made her feel safe.

Kristin pulled Dominick off to the side. “We need to talk, it’s very important.”

Dominick looked at Kristin, and saw right through her. But, he only hinted so, smirking and sitting down on a nearby bench.

Kristin kept biting her lip, words running through her head, heart pounding, and adrenaline shooting through her like testosterone in a man. Oh my God…she kept thinking. She took one big breath, and tears started dribbling down her face. “I love you….” She whispered.

Dominick was caught off guard. “What?” He seemed almost appalled. He had wanted and waited for it, but here it was. He was shocked. He picked up Kristin’s chin, and averted her gaze towards his, her teary eyes staring him down. He wiped off some of her tears. “What did you say?” He said lightly.

“I love you, Dominick. I love you so much…and I don’t know what to do.” Kristin started choking on tears. Dominick hated seeing her cry, and his eyes watered at the site.

“Come here,” he whispered as he hugged her, “It’s going to be ok.”

Kristin just laid there for awhile crying on his shoulder. She didn’t know what to do, and she wasn’t sure that this nothing was going to make him stay.

“Why don’t you know?” Dominick was interested, unlike Louis.

        “I have doubts,” she whispered.

        “Like?”

“I love you….,” again she whispered, “And I want to be with you no matter what. But, I need a reassurance…. I want to be with you, for awhile. Not just a little bit. For awhile…and what if that doesn’t happen.” Kristin’s eyes started watering again. She continued though. “I need to know that we can be together…I need to know this will work.” Kristin bit her bottom lip to try and stop the flood of tears from her eyes.

When she looked up, she could remember nothing more, and right on her lips were his. His smooth, loving caring lips that kissed that fit perfectly to match her own. And he kissed her, and her heart sped up, butterflies filled her stomach, and she smiled as she kissed him, her head was spinning, and she couldn’t feel anything but the beautiful pressure on her lips from his.

Kristin wrapped her arms around Dominick’s neck, and held onto him as he made her feel like she was in Heaven. Dominick had his arms wrapped around her waist.

He pulled away ever so slightly, and whispered, “I love you too.”

Awesome beginning! This chapter was so adorable, and I could visualize all of the situations you presented. It brought my girly side out, the side that clings to romance. Great job with this!
