Scared of the DarkA Poem by Alma MillerFrom a child's perspective. Written in 2011.The night strangles me Cutting off my supply of air And then laughing As I struggle To breath.
Too dark Too quiet Too deceiving in its Secrecy Hiding everything From my Wide Eyes.
I want to scream To cry To turn on the light To wake up my parents But I am too small And the dark would Swallow Me Up.
So I wait And I stare And I listen And Eventually I fall asleep My eyes drift shut And I am not scared Of the dark Any More. © 2012 Alma Miller |
