The recipe for disaster

The recipe for disaster

A Poem by Allyson (:
"

The recipe your mother didn't want you to bake.

"
One mischievous, marvelous mess of a girl
A dash of a boy that'd rock her whole world
A sprinkle of words that rolled off the tounge
and throw in two hearts just for the fun
Mix up the stories, the truth with the lie
Blend until no one can tell that they've cried
Cook up a disaster of two hearts broken
You've started a fire with each word spoken
Dish out the lust while the kitchen burns hot
Cool and serve to pretend that you're not
Some mess of a girl; make them all see
Now learn your lesson and hide this recipe.

Wow, this is a fantastic poem! The extended metaphor of a relationship as a recipe is brilliant and very creative. There are so many poems about broken hearts that it becomes painful to read after a while, but this was a very unique way to tell the same old story.
