You said,
“People tend to tell you
that they’re there for you,
but don’t live up to it.
I promise that I’ll live up to it.”
I knew,
that wasn’t the case but
I hoped,
that I was wrong and
you would be there for me, as promised.
I pushed
everyone away, isolating myself
as the depression whispered temptations in my ears
hoping,
that you would see through my act and follow up on your promise.
You said,
“You clearly want space.
I’ll leave you alone.”
Inside,
I was screaming
no, come back.
Outside,
I was silent.
You said,
“I’d never leave you,
no matter what.”
I’m sitting here,
saying nothing while
you’re doing
what you promised
you would never do.
You left,
and never looked back.
