83. It's Time to Die

*In Boston, Massachusetts*

 

*Jocelyn is asleep across Morgan’s legs, who is sitting against the wall, looking up hard at the sink. Listening to each drip of the broken water*

 

Morgan: I’m going crazy.

 

Jocelyn: *stirs* What?

 

Morgan: That faucet is driving me nuts.

 

Jocelyn: At least we’re still alive.

 

Morgan: for now.

 

*As if on cue, the door opens to reveal a man with a strange looking masquerade mask that’s a lot of colors and supports lots of feathers. He looks like he’s going to fall over he’s so sad*

 

UnSub: One of you shall die.

 

Jocelyn: *jumps up to a sitting position* What?! What did we do?!

 

UnSub: You did nothing. Your team refused to put SSA Spencer Reid on the phone when I called.

 

Jocelyn: HOW DO YOU KNOW ABOUT REID?!

 

UnSub: You talk in your sleep.

 

Jocelyn: I DO NOT TALK IN MY--

 

Morgan: Yeah, you do.

 

UnSub: You’re beautiful.

 

Morgan: Why thank you.

 

UnSub: *hits him with a shovel* NOT YOU.

 

Jocelyn: M-me?

 

UnSub: Yes, you.

 

Jocelyn: W-why? I’m not beautiful.

 

UnSub: Yes, you are. You’re gorgeous, more shiny than any shining star. You light up the light in front of me, a fog in my depression.

 

Jocelyn: Please… Don’t…

 

UnSub: *whacks her with a shovel* Nothing can be that beautiful!

 

Jocelyn: Ah!

 

UnSub: *whacks her again and again with the shovel* NOTHING. NOTHING. NOTHING.

 

Morgan: *jumps on him, knocking him over* STOP, YOU SICK B*****D.

 

UnSub: *knocks him out cold with the shovel*

 

Jocelyn: *is bruised, and battered against the wall* Please… Don’t hurt me…

 

UnSub: NO ONE CAN BE THAT BEAUTIFUL. *whack, whack, whack, whack…*

 

*Suddenly, Jocelyn, bruised and beaten, falls to the ground. Her eyes are squeezed shut, and her body is curled into a ball. Blood pools around her legs and leaks out from beneath her. Her clothes are impossibly torn, and her shoes and socks are on the floor and entirely soaked in her still leaking blood. Her body is motionless. The UnSub gets down on one knee, dropping the shovel. It clangs to the ground, awakening Morgan. But he’s in too much pain to do anything. Groggily, he watches the UnSub check her pulse*

 

UnSub: *whispers* Gone. *to Morgan* Your friend is dead. Be lucky to be alive. *leaves*

 

Morgan: *manages to pull himself over* *feels for Jocelyn’s pulse*

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

*…there is none*

 

Morgan: What? No! Jocelyn! Sterling! JOCELYN!

The slight spazzingness is the only thing that kept me through this chapter. It was a split decision, and it's going to effect a lot of things I have planned for the book. I'm sorry if you hate me, but please, PLEASE don't stop reading.
