66. Confrontation?

*In Acornville*

 

*Reid, still driving, pulls up to the crime scene. My stomach is in knots, because Emily was counting on Joss, Megan and I to identify the body, therefore, we don’t know who it is yet. We get out, and I steadily approach the mess of blood and flesh. Almost immediately, I know exactly who it is*

 

Me: Cassidy.

 

Jocelyn: Oh, my God.

 

Prentiss: Who is it?

 

Me: Her name is Cassidy Donna. She’s Chris Aril’s girlfriend, actually.

 

JJ: Chris Aril, as in Mayisha’s lawyer?

 

Jocelyn: *cracks up* CHRIS IS MAYISHA’S LAWYER?

 

Me: *smiles* Good luck to her.

 

*Hotch and I have not looked at one another since we arrived. I’m afraid of what he’s going to say. I said some pretty nasty things before I left, but I was just angry, and I wish to take them all back. I fight going over to him and hugging him and telling him that I’m sorry and not to hate me for all eternity. I’m worried about the Doctor too; he still hasn’t shown up. Reid is hugging Jocelyn while she cries about Cassidy, and I feel tears welling up in my eyes. Trying to distract myself, I go over to Reid to see if we should talk to Megan and Gideon about what we saw or not. After all, they’ve finally come out of the storage room closet*

 

Me: *approaches Reid* Hey, *sniffles* can I talk to you for a minute?

 

Reid: Yeah, sure. *detaches himself from Jocelyn* *whispers* What is it?

 

Me: Should we go ask them, *gestures to Meg and Gideon* about what we saw?

 

Reid: *shivers in memory* I hate an eidetic memory.

 

Me: Confrontation?

 

Reid: *sighs* It’d be best. Put a stop to it now.

 

Me: Put a stop to it? I mean, as far as I’m concerned, Megan can date whomever she wants. But just prepare to face the wraith of the Master when he returns. IF he ever returns.

 

Reid: But, we must play into the fact that it’s illegal.

 

Me: To date whomever you want?

 

Reid: No, two agents cannot date one another.

 

Me: Gideon’s got to know that.

 

Reid: Yeah, he probably doesn’t care.

 

Me: Do they have a chance of not getting caught?

 

Reid: Um… Maybe…

 

Me: Fine. You win. Come on.

 

*We approach Gideon and Megan, who look over at us suspiciously*

 

Megan: What’s wrong, Liv?

 

Reid: Can we talk to you?

 

Gideon: What’s wrong?

 

Me: We, uh, stumbled upon something interesting.

 

Gideon: Did you, now?

 

Reid: Um…

 

Me: Reid, tell them what we saw.

 

Reid: Why me!?

 

Me: You’re the one with the eidetic memory! You remember everything!

 

Reid: It’s kind of hard to forget what we’ve seen.

 

Me: Fine. *to Gideon and Megan* We saw you guys making out.

 

Gideon: *looks flustered* W-what?

 

Me: It was kind of…

 

Reid: …awful.

 

Me: REID!

 

Reid: I’M JUST STATING A FACT.

 

Megan: Y-you saw that?

 

Me: It was a total accident, serious. Reid and I were leaving when we stumbled upon you.

 

Megan: I mean… It was just…

 

Me: It’s okay. But, according to super-smart Spencer here, it’s illegal to have a relationship with another agent.

 

Gideon: I’ve been in the BAU far longer than Reid has. I know the rules.

 

Me: And yet you still seek an illegal relationship?

 

Gideon: Have you ever heard of keeping things QUIET?

 

Me: *takes offence* Fine. Do whatever the hell you want. I don’t care. *leaves*

 

Megan: Olivia!

 

Me: *grabs Reid* Come on, Spencer.

 

Reid: Uh, o-okay. *is pulled*

 

Me: *goes up to JJ and Prentiss while Reid goes back to Jocelyn* This proves Mayisha innocent, doesn’t it?

 

JJ: Unfortunately, no. Um, Cassidy has been dead for about a day.

 

Me: WHAT?!

 

JJ: I’m sorry.

 

Prentiss: But we still need to keep Mayisha in custody.

 

Me: ARE. YOU. KIDDING ME.

 

Prentiss: I’m sorry.

 

Me: *sighs, then goes to stand over Cassidy’s body* *tears up* Could this day get ANY worse?
