Bleak Strand

Bleak Strand

A Poem by Allison

Blue and gray, gray and blue

The colors change as I watch the waves

Going out and coming in and going out again

Where are you?

The water can thrust over these barriers

Splash down into my garden

And drown it whole

I’m going to wait

Blankets of silver in the sky

Have buried the deep expanse of

Brilliant sapphire that make this ocean shine

Your shoes sit by my door

The sand is tired of sticking to my damp feet

As I pace this forgotten coast

Withdrawn from memory
