SpiderwebsA Poem by S. Allison (Ferrante) SandersonOne of my first poems, written back on 01/27/2001, at the age of 20.
Why do we weave these webs that we weave,
That build us to to believe what we believe, Personal prisons we each build on our own, With a false sense of sitting on our throne, Standing together however standing alone, Some will stay small and some will have grown, Keeping wrapped up the things that we've caught, Putting them away and even sometimes forgot, Spinning a cocoon around the catches we regret, Hoping they'll fade away as long as we forget, From time to time we will sit and share a dream, That will spin to our webs an unexplored gleam, Pushing out the old catches after they're soiled, Moving onto the new ones that still haven't spoiled, In good time we realize that they too are used, Leaving us wondering around and often confused, Eventually some of us begin to understand, While others continue to make water out of sand, Arrogantly thinking we've caught all that we can, When we say, "Now I am woman or I am man," Though each web is different and yet still the same, To some only known to others by a face or a name, Sadly what one can tell another to let go, Isn't always caught when uncomfortable is faux, The idea of freedom from all which you've known, Is that you have to let go and no longer be a drone, When you jump from your web and step on the ground, You'll find there's so many things still yet to be found. © 2018 S.
