As High as the Sequoia TreeA Poem by AlliJust some thoughts on the beauty of Sequoia National Park6000 feet above Above my fears Above my doubts Above my insecurities. Breathe in the air of freedom Breathe in the air of joy 6000 feet above My fears My doubts My insecurities. A sea of clouds, stretching forever The peaks of mountains poking through The eagle flies, The trees sway And I am 6000 above My fears My doubts My insecurities A hole in my heart So big I could cry But it's not a hole of lost love Or me dying inside. It's the hole where my demons use to lay Chaining me To my fears My doubts My insecurities Breathe in the scent of life, Without darkness dragging you down, Breathe in the scent of family, Of closeness so deep it cuts Of peace so quiet it stings. Breathe in the air of freedom, Of what you could be, If you chose to let go, And fly As high as the Sequoia Trees.
