beesA Poem by Allie EsoraBuzz Buzz Buzzit’s like a hive that has been blocked and barricaded, Encased in porcelain slip Chalky powdery dense slick, suffocating. It vibrates throughout With trapped buzzing energy Not stinging, not aggressive But panicking, and rolling, and clumping together A living knot of need Need to move Need to work Need to sleep Need to cry Need to breathe Need to jump or scream or tear out frenzied heart. Shallow vents of air provide only smoky putrid restless sleep In piles of twitching wings Scrabbling little legs. Pulsing quickly, too quickly like a bear, tap tap tapping Scraping, Leaning, Crushing, Cracking, Such a delicate prison. But it doesn’t know There is no honey, Just fearful, defensive, buzzing mania. Stripes topple at the movement and again, Pandora’s pithos is vibrating With electric madness. Inmates throw themselves at the wall. Unpadded, black stains splatter like Ink across a white mantle, Flung in aggressive curses at gummy padlocks. The walls crumble inwards, in imploding amusement. There is no freedom there-- just dark, humid, miasmatic mist, The scarlet dewy breath of a dying star. © 2022 Allie EsoraAuthor's Note
