Why I Write.....
Northants Writers Ink were set the challenge to create a piece on the theme 'Why I Write'
I want to tell you I'm a literary expert, writing books, stories, poems, and an occasional exert. But alas, I'm green, un-noticed, inspired by greats; hoping one day, I will get noticed.
I write songs that have to be sang, like: 'Chitty-Chitty, Bang-Bang.' (1) I write humour which also appeals to me, like: 'It's an ex-parrot, when it has ceased to be.' (2)
For moral guidance, like monks medieval 'Yea, thou I walk... I will fear no evil'. (3) Romance creeps in, but it's not on my plan, Like; 'Frankly, my dear I don't give a damn.' (4)
I write a story to make you freeze with fright, Like; 'Listen to them, the children of the night.' (5) Science Fiction reaps its payloads, 'Roads ... where we're going, we don't need roads.' (6)
Drama can make your hair get curled, like; 'She burned too bright for this world.' (7) But, I like a challenge, if truth be told, You know the poem that begins; 'In days of old..' (8)
To answer this piece, was rather tough, I often find I've done enough; other times I keep a-tweeking, to make the story more intriguing.
So, why I write is a complex thing, some may read, and others may sing. But for me, I get so much enjoyment, in the hope one day, it leads to employment.
