A Lunch of Tears and SorrowsA Poem by Alfred KukitzFinding DebraA Lunch of Tears and Sorrows She loved him in the evening of her life Whereas I met him in the morning of mine Like common strangers we met at noon lunch Hers was tears and sorrow I ordered the same I looked a mile or more for her smile Highways, back roads, alleyways held no clues She left the road of herself wandering in the memory of his love When she peeked I tried to smile My wounded heart find solace in her peek She, too, seemed to find a grounding in my style We wedded into each other’s wounds Kick our smiles down the road of time I held her hand in mine. © 2018 Alfred Kukitz |
