is stillness the goal

is stillness the goal

A Poem by Alfred Kukitz
"

count the leaves

"

is stillness the goal

i am on the port side of myself
usual consciousness left me
dry, wandering, feeling the sadness
of soft lips caressing my ear.
the fool meter rises
as i sink in subterranean complexity
you there!
can you hear me?
tell me please what is going on?
the auto switch reverberates
shook out of blues into the green of leaves
it’s spring and photosynthesis tickles my lungs.
i aimlessly walk among the roses
reckoning i may become a leaf petal soft
forever in my own stillness

What a relief! I guess I’m not the only one who seeks stillness in my surrounding wilderness, but instead I end up going along thru a series of pleasant disjointed reveries, sometimes sinking so deep into whatever little lichen or stinkbug is fascinating moment by moment, when I suddenly surface with a questioning stare, trying to find my bearings. You’ve perfectly captured every unnoticed little nuance of how it feels to be an old doddering fool living alone in the wilderness where I sometimes become so far removed from “regular” people, I forget all about that old life. That, to me, is the sought-after stillness of daily meditation – perfectly painted in words by you! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

beautiful piece---reminds me of William Carlos Williams---
"as i sink in subterranean complexity" great line...
"forever in my own stillness" we hope to become soft petals...we have our memories...they bloom each year.
