a brief moment in evolution

A Poem by Alfred Kukitz
"

only one man

"

a brief moment in evolution

somewhere under the light at the bottom of the doorway
stands a man of unbreathable volume
he stand naked bearing bones of his identity
the throat of a new species screaming beyond rhyme,
beyond the toil of reason, beyond any imaginable fantasy
finally dissolving himself into a morsel of ash.

and someday our ashes will all be from that same fire, the breath of poetry we all share.
