This is a beautiful tribute to the lost art of sending & receiving letters/cards thru the "snail mail"! So much has been lost without the touch & smell & suspense of receiving a mysterious envelope. You've shown the younger generations how delightful a handwritten surprise used to be! But we're all too hooked on convenience, so we don't take the time anymore. Your descriptions are spot on & I remember these feelings wistfully (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

This is a lovely poem of the childlike excitement aroused by a curiosity transforming into a adult passion as the senses (inspired focus on smell btw, such a strong impression so often ignored) become enveloped (no pun intended) and the final image of it lingering is beautiful.
I'm not sure how to comment on the context of this poem but it does seem to be a timeless piece as you chose the beautiful art form of a letter/card.
