edge

edge

A Poem by Alfred Kukitz
"

two feet

"

edge

not for easy feet
perhaps a loss of confidence
is oblivion close
what repercussions in the fall
is there anything to like about the edge
step one
a breath counters the rise of the foot
planted
silence breathes into forever
step two
it’s all exhale
oh.....oh....oh
a wave of excitement
step three
finally gone

A poem which though simply worded is nuanced with mutliple layers of meaning and open to myriad interpretations. What compels us to lean over the edge? What restrains us otherwise? When should we throw caution to the wind and allow ourselves to keel over? And ultimately is the leap worth it? Well, I may be rambling but edges tend to do that, don't they? Jagged or smooth.
