a long echo

a long echo

A Poem by Alfred Kukitz
"

sixties

"

a long echo

sixties
crowd roars
for, against, scorekeepers toil for more
vietnam, JFK, MLK, JFK, killed for
what was once called America

billy joel sings, crosby, still, nash & young
harmonize our discontent
woodstock the craze of a peaceful world
4 dead in O hi O
fathers taking sons & daughters to the concerts of our days
the long echo of generations hear those songs for years
we will all sing those rambunctious days
filled with soul in every which way

I love the way you remind us of the music as well as the times this music was written about. I can relate to every detail, which seems a little tame compared to todays' strife, but at the time, such things felt very intense, too. The last two lines are especially relatable & fun, as to how it feels to remember these old times! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

It is difficult to imagine those times - but the music is still played today. Wonderful writing Al

i'm still hearing them, and singing them...
