Batter Up

Batter Up

A Poem by Alfred Kukitz
"

a home run for the soul

"

Batter Up

It's been a whole day in silence
The roar of yesterday pitched itself to the bleachers
The diamond's stillness settles upon me
A home run of my soul rounds the bases
I've spoiled a pitcher's perfect game
as I sit in the dugout of my home

Faced with many an inning of life
I do know the goal of more
sitting quietly among myself
listening to the diamond sage of old
Come gather round your words
that find a contentment within the whole.

Thanks Valentine!

On your special day! We never had enough players to field all positions so we altered the rules according to manpower.

Al

Thanks Jacob!

I still see an old friend that I played baseball with at the school grounds.

We get up, get a hit or strike out. Some days we win others we lose. Nice idea for a write. Valentine

Enjoyed the comparison between life and baseball. Well written. Tyfs

it's not whether we win or lose, it is how we have played the game that will put us in the hall of fame of life.
love the metaphor...
