Frozen in a Pause

Frozen in a Pause

A Poem by Alfred Kukitz
"

Nam in the cycle of the mind

"

Frozen in a Pause

Frozen in my pause
I listen to eternity's silence
Grow deeper into the absolute sound of nothing

I hear there silence
I can reach out, touch them all the way to Nam
I near infinity's door as they draw near
awaiting, awaiting for me in my turn.

This is a chilling memory for those who lived and served at that time. I never will understand war, Valentine

Thanks Tony!

I cry over the 67,000 plus blunder of men and women killed in Vietnam.

Frozen (with)in a pause - such a stark image of non-movement.
...waiting to reunite with fallen comrades.
Truly moving writing (ironically).

Thanks Pride!

If I could swing on your star and live there it just might all go away.

Thank You Sami!

Under a year of service, 20 months of military life, angst upon arrival home and water buffalo in my belly's soul.

Thank You Lydia,

My tour of duty keeps reminding me that Vietnam will always last. Here the short timer doesn't exist.

Al
