Soul as Flesh

Soul as Flesh

A Poem by Alfred Kukitz
"

dear dad........

"

Soul as Flesh

He favored the nothing in himself.
As though a piece of t**d formed his brain
A sly wickedness lived between his false teeth
The tongue, made of stone, cracked as though words meant something
Father, flesh and blood, cold blue rain of soul
gathering round the weather of his being
and I, like the fool, so distanced from the grail of reason and grace
watched as his soul fell into pieces of flesh.

Heartbreaking
And image filled horror

wow! devastating to be in a household with such a father ..wow! i think this poem is particularly spectacular in giving voice to a "child" ... very fine parents do a haphazard job of it ..but the bad ones are really bad it seems :(
the turn in these two lines are mahvelous, simply mahvelous .. and more:
"Father, flesh and blood, cold blue rain of soul
gathering round the weather of his being "
well done my friend ..it's a keeper says i!
E.
ps. i have to say the idea of a soul turning to flesh in such a way is a spiritual horror ..when i think of it ..i get such a deep sense of depravity ..and that it is your protagonist's father is even more so ..
