A Flight on the Imagination

A Flight on the Imagination

You are a gay grace in the midst of my company

A swirl of scent seething in delight

We surrender our chains of mediocrity for this moment

I cup your endearment into my aging hands

as the youth of my imagination quickly renders

a veer into a charmed bracelet of your soul

How I can forever wander with your spirit

Lift the vail to stepping stones to nowhere

Ultimately lying in the steep cliff of your arms

As we fall into the depth of slumber

We discover the waking bird keeping us in the air.

interesting write .. raises many questions in my mind ..the strength of this one is in its smooth presentation and fervent trips of fancy by an old man ;) something wanted but not quite getting perhaps .. especially enjoy the alliterations and your chains of mediocrity ...your closing leaves me hanging .. i want resolution but the waking bird isn't giving it .. your poem has got me..caused me to think ..and i enjoyed the language
