A Swimming Lullaby
A Poem by
Alfred Kukitz
take the dip!
A Swimming Lullaby
700 toes going nowhere.
Feet scrambling to find the right toes
The weather of snow surrounds the stances of two legs
Panic, mild and enervating, captures the moment
Winter caught the barefoot of surprise
just hoping to swim in a lullaby.

Thanks Lydia!
I wanted to pay you back for the stop at the red light. It's green I must be moving on.

It was fun to write like a nice piece of chocolate melting on the tongue. Wanna go for a dip?

Polar plunge, mystical nonsense, the mind leaning into the abstract it could be all and none of these at the same time.

Thanks Jacob,
What I like is open ended where the reader decides what the poems about. No right or wrong just imagination.

The dangers of swimming in the ocean are numerous. To be able to swim "in a lullaby" is what we hope for. However, 700 toes? Okay, seventy people taking the plunge. Must be the Polar Bear club. Brave souls...or perhaps a wee bit crazy! :) In any case, I enjoyed the read. Lydi**

not sure how to interpret this, but it's so enjoyable to read, I read it again and again. Is it the annual January 1 event of the Polar Bear Club, or a summer tip toeing into the frigid waters of the Pacific? Does it really matter? This poem is delightful!
