Feeling Dan

Feeling Dan

A Poem by Alfred Kukitz
"

like a poem in my hand

"

Feeling Dan

Teary,
Jerked by a momentary memory
Dan, Dan Bailey, visits in his phantom pose
The poetry of us in words & deeds
The art of conversation follows music's highest note
We gather in a momentum of friendship
laughing like the old men we are
dancing in a whorehouse of love
I say hello in memory only
as recollections fade in a gray face memory

I'm thinking of entering one of his poems here. I encouraged him to join but he didn't take my advice. The first time we met it seemed like we were old friends who hadn't seen each other in years. Two tours in Vietnam, a wonderful wife and two sons. Bud his dog died shortly before he did. I took Jackson my golden down to his house. They would play in the yard.

Thanks Jacob!

Regards,
Al

this is so powerfully sad...reminds me of one of my buddies, Carl....i have those similar memories of him...
and still laugh at his jokes...even though i only imagine them now.

Blood disease. He mistakenly drank water laced with Agent Orange Camp Lejune a marine military base. We use to exchange poems to each other.

Thanks for the visit Steph.
