To Follow the Owl
A Poem by
Alfred Kukitz
who who!
To Follow the Owl
Step into darkness
Follow the owl's who
Listen carefully for the sound of who
When echoes chime
Light finds its due
Your flight of the owl comes hither in you
Like a person in step
or the soul in you
You find a place that you know is you.

my favorite birds! very clever, wise write...that is quite endearing...
that makes one feel as if the owl is speaking in riddles with the reader!
love your play on words...Thank you for sharing (:

Short and sweet. I love the use of "you" and "who" in this piece.
Certainly relevant to an owl!
Nice writing.

Into the branches, out over the horizon, spanning across the souls of forever.
Thank you Be.

And so you shall sing, sing with the contentment of your fellow friends and let the shower of joy wash over you.
Thank you softly fall for your visit.

There is a wonderful irony in the "who" vs "hoo" that I adore.
As if the owl is querying your soul, asking you..."who are you". Then the light comes and you awaken from this dream of enlightenment.
Animals are powerful totems, seen often in dreams. I have two, a mockingbird and a ground squirrel...perhaps that's why I want to live in a hobbit hole and why I sing in the shower.

Thank you Barbara for your compliment. Oh when the words rise I fee like a poet who flies.

This paints a canvas of beautiful images bringing to life the magical sense in the poem - I loved it!
