Saigon Was WonA Poem by Alfred Kukitzthe victory that never happenedSaigon Was Won “Captain Jack will take you to your special island” We were all well, well enough to celebrate Saigon, heroes among south vietnamese folks, heroes among ourselves, our country and the folks we left behind. but before the brawl of joy we bowed deeply, deeply into our own souls, some cried, some fell to their knees in proud and sad remembrance of those who died. you could feel the silence escaping out over the countryside, rolling down mountains, within the mouths of the former north Vietnamese people. we tailed it, followed it all the way to the sky and back again. One Our Father seem to overcome us all. We prayed like little boys in our first communion. All dressed in white, all feeling the holiness of our souls The air ripped, pot smoked the air and lungs of soldiers, screams of joy echoed! Saigon was won! © 2015 Alfred KukitzReviews
