Hitler Won't Be Coming

Have you seen the blood that battle borne
Earth drenched in courage from a holocaust of war
Died on his birthday
Died on his wedding anniversary
Died on his child's birth
Died fighting for you & me

I am returning to the dead of WW II fame
My eyes in tears repose for what I've gained
I can see them all standing clear
Waving a flag they all had to bear
On a plane of madness they came to share

My uncle among them
At rest and all
July "44 came his fall
St. Lo, France in a hedgerow war
The casualty rate of 200% or more
He would be 98 to me
A living legend telling his story for free
At 26 he laid down cause Hitler was
sure to come to town.

Emotionally charged, beautifully written.....WW1,the war to end all wars,WW 2,and more and more and more....it'll only stop when we all stop living

One man's madness and many dead, a foreign and strange equation!

Thanks Jacob!

i see that plane of madness landing in the airport of memories...all the dead faces looking out the windows...and departing with the flags waving in their grey eyes....

beautifully written, Al.

very moving piece.
